Out of State Resident with Georgia DUI

If you have been charged with a DUI in Georgia and live in another state, Bray Law can help you navigate the Georgia legal process.

License Suspension

Even if your license is in another state, the suspension you get in Georgia can mean your out-of-state license will be suspended.  Georgia is a part of the Non-Resident Driver Compact.  Every state, except for Wisconsin and Michigan, are a part of this pact or the Driver's License Compact.  This means that your state more than likely will impose the same penalties as Georgia would on your license.  Wisconsin and Michigan can still decide to suspend your driver's license if they find out about a conviction in Georgia.  So, you can be facing punishment in Georgia and the driver's license suspension in your home state.

How do I travel to and from court?

In addition to the license suspension, getting arrested in Georgia when you live out of state poses other issues, including getting to and from court.  In a DUI case, there are many hearings and court dates.  In most cases, attorney would be able to appear on your behalf without your presence needed.
